Out To Sea

A Film Series In Conversation With Premier Australian Artists

Featuring in-depth conversations with Emma Donovan, Sarah Basko, John Butler, Clare Bowditch, William Crighton, and many more.

Episode one feat. Emma Donovan launching may 1st 2024

Much more than just a podcast or interview series, ‘Out to Sea' is an online film series and podcast created by Australian singer/songwriter and filmmaker Mark Lang (Skipping Girl Vinegar). The series explores creative practice, place, songwriting, storytelling, touring and the business of making a sustainable lifelong career in the arts.

Set in the Victorian coastal village of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale, the series features some of Australia's finest songwriters discussing their practice and making a lifelong career in the arts.

Twelve key Australian artists have been invited to have a relaxed conversation exploring their creative journey, the various stages of their career and the lessons and experiences that have shaped their careers.

Recorded in the historic fisherman’s shed at the Queenscliff Maritime museum, the backdrop of each conversation features the historic artwork of fisherman Henry Zanoni (1895) painted directly on the walls of the beautiful old timber shed.

Woven throughout the series will be vignette pieces of the everyday life and stories of a small Australian coastal village. As well as shining a light on the inside practices of our incredible musicians, the podcast series will shine a light on many iconic, historic places and spaces within the region.
